What this is about
When a resident of a nursing home dies, it is quite possible that he or she has been declining for months or even years. This means that family members have been experiencing loss and grief issues on a continuing basis, although perhaps not aware of it.

The funeral is a time to acknowledge the prolonged pain of the family members and to affirm that their loved one was never less than a person worthy of respect and dignity.

Although I am retired chaplain, I hope that the examples I am publishing here may be of use to others facing the daunting task of providing wholistic care to residents and families. If anything here is useful to you, please feel free to use it as you see fit.
